What to do in Medellin

Having Good Memories Will Be A Story To Repeat.

This was our experience in Medellin

The desire to adventure will always take us down new paths, where a new story, anecdote and memories will emerge that will leave a mark on you. “More than in memory, in the heart.” They say that one does not bathe twice in the same river . A phrase that we had never understood, until that moment when we understood that everything changes and nothing will be the same twice.

So this group of travelers believed that when they arrived in Medellin they would walk through the streets and places of the city that they remembered with nostalgia and longing. (As if the city of eternal spring were frozen in time; something utopian). As always, surprised, we found a great variety of places, activities and a lot of design in the city, so in a few words we fell in love and this was our little journey where we will tell a little about it.

Going out without coats, without ties or thoughts that flooded our heads was the first group decision; since we were only invaded by the passion to know and try what this beautiful city has to offer us. So our tour began from the “Plaza de Botero” where the Museum of Antioquia is and on the outskirts a crowd of hardworking paisas and also recruiters, who while they chat, put on the tourist's glasses, a bracelet and even a hat so that he can take a small souvenir of the city; so - of course we took it with us.

Thirsty from the heat of that radiant day and a bit crowded by the other Antioquians who were with us on the subway heading to the Alpujarra station where we walked like expert connoisseurs to the “barefoot park” a place known for its attractions. We had the pleasure of enjoying ourselves guided; where we relaxed in an exorbitant way and only a very cold beer “Pilsen” could complete the joy of that experience; for obvious reasons it was the one we felt we had to order so it was not just one but three.

After being in high spirits, full of beer but hungry and eager to know a place where we could taste the gastronomy of the city and find variety with the pretext of being able to snack and enjoy the small snacks that every traveler has when they arrive in a different city. We decided, then, to go to the “river market” (totally surprising) where music, the great variety of gastronomy with stalls separated less than two meters that sell totally different food, together with the rustic atmosphere and the warmth of the people (not to say crowd) come together to spend a pleasant time. We ate in more than 5 places and we will give one of our favorites “ El Rancherito ” where the Antioquian food and its tradition delighted our palates. The night ended after a couple of bottles of wine and good conversation; where we came to the conclusion that this city will always be a synonym of innovation, but also of tradition and that is what we tourists love. Having a little bit of everything in one place, taking home an unforgettable and unique souvenir from each destination visited so that in the end we can feel that a part of our being has stayed, but we have also taken something from that place... and our stories will continue.
